So, tell me about your luckiest day. When was it?
It’s very interesting that you ask me that because I remember it very clearly indeed. It was about six and a half years ago.
What happened before that day?
I was a post-graduate student at university, and I was about twenty five years old. I was working very hard to finish my Masters. Every day, I went to the library to research my thesis. It was the summer, and the holidays were approaching.
And what happened on that day?
Well, it was a very strange day. I was walking along the street to the library when I met an elderly lady. She asked me to stop, so I stopped. She took my hand in her hand, and she started to tell me things about my life. She said I had led an unlucky life. I was very surprised, and I didn’t agree. She said she liked me, and she told me she would remove the bad luck. So, she said something while we were holding hands, and then we parted. So, I continued on my way to university. About ten minutes later, I saw a woman crossing the street. She seemed to be in a hurry and she wasn’t looking at the traffic. I saw a car coming towards her, and it was travelling too fast. It wasn’t going to stop. I ran towards the woman, and I pushed her out of the way of the car. The car only just missed her. She was very grateful, and invited me for a cup of tea. We went to a nearby café, and we drank tea and chatted. We chatted for hours. It was a really wonderful time. We agreed to stay in touch. She later became my girlfriend, and now she is my wife.
That’s a fascinating story. Did you ever expect such luck?
No, I never did. Perhaps it was a strange coincidence but I think I was just very lucky that day.
Why do you think you were so lucky? What was so special?
Well, I saved someone’s life, and I met my future wife. I think it was the influence of the old lady I met earlier in the day. My wife doesn’t agree. She thinks it was fate, and we would have met in any case.
Has that luck influenced your life in any way, do you think?
Well, of course. I now have a lovely wife and two small children. I would never have met her if she hadn’t been in danger. She isn’t go to the university, and our paths never usually crossed. I think I now have a more optimistic view towards life. I feel that anything can happen.
What would you do if the same thing happened again?
I would always help somebody if I saw they were in danger. Fortunately, it's not happened again.
