Philadelphia's Dysrhythmia has a killer live show that cracks open skulls and leaves no prisoners. For those who can't witness the otherworldly experience, catching the band on Pretest is the next best thing. The raw energy of the live set spills onto the album and gives the listener a glimpse into the band's caustic mix of metal, math rock, and psychedelia. Opener "Bastard" gets the blood pumping and sets the pace for the rest of the album with expressive guitars and domineering drums. The technical prowess of the band is undeniable, but "Bastard" weaves threads of accessibility into the mix that make utterly captivating.
