14. Grails - Dargai
Whatever "Dargai" might miss in technical tightness, it compensates in feeling. A dragging rhythm throughout the track has the vibe of what a rehearsal may sound like the day after a memorable show or a night of heavy drinking. Guitars that are seemingly being tuned during the introduction, a drummer that appears to be adjusting a few things on his drum-kit while bashing the hangover away, and other minor flaws fuel the dragging, folkish slowcore. But it is those little imperfections in the opener of Red Light that define the amazing beauty of the track, and Grails, never one to submit to convention, make the audience one with this awkwardness. And soon enough, Grails has turned the largest of skeptics into zealous believers. (Jurgen Verhasselt)
