Hello! My name is Samantha. I’m a journalist from the local paper. I heard that you’ve just won a million pounds in the national lottery. Would you mind giving me a short interview?
No, of course not. Go ahead!
Great, thanks so much. First of all, can you tell me your name, please?
Sure. My name is Jacob Wilcox. Do you know how to spell that? It’s W-I-L-C-O-X.
Great. And if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?
I don’t mind at all! I’m forty years old. And I feel like twenty again!
Well, you must be very excited after your big win! Have you told your colleagues? What do you do?
I’m a lorry driver. I work at the local yard. I drive lorries all week, up and down the country. Sure, I’ve told all my friends. They’re really pleased for me. I took them all for a drink the day I found out.
I see. And do you often play the lottery?
Sometimes, but not often. I was just walking past the shop last week, and I saw this big advertisement in front of the door, and I suddenly had a feeling that it was my lucky day. So I went in and bought a ticket.
Really? Which lotteries do you normally play?
Well, as I said, I don’t play often. But sometimes I buy a scratchcard. You know the things - you scratch the numbers, and if you have three identical numbers, you win a prize.
Have you ever won a big prize before?
You must be joking! The most I ever won was two pounds. That’s not much at all! I can only buy a drink with that!
This must be a very big day for you. How do you feel?
How do I feel? I feel great, of course! This is the best day of my life. I’m rich!
Are you normally such a lucky person?
Never! I was always the unluckiest person in my family. I hurt myself a lot when I was a little kid, I was always last at school, I never won anything. That’s why it’s so amazing!
Most people would dream of this kind of money. What are you going to spend it on?
Well, I’m tired of driving lorries all day! I need a holiday. I’m going to book a holiday for me and my girlfriend, and we are going to go somewhere really far away. We will stay in a five-star hotel, and eat the best food at the best restaurants. Then, I’m going to buy myself a really nice car. One I always wanted. But I’m not going to give up my job. I love my lorry. And I like my friends.
