24. Triosk & Jan Jelinek - Neckless
Triosk has never been the easiest band to appreciate, and their first album, a collaboration with German electronica whiz Jan Jelinek, is certainly no different. “Neckless” opposes jazz piano and drums with ambient noise, the latter dominating the first few seconds and then gradually giving way to the former. But at the end, just as the piano and drums seem poised to take over, the analog triumph is averted, reverting back to noise for the last half-minute. Perhaps in this light there is a pun in the name of the song, showing the ultimate fate of all who prize beauty too highly. For those who like their jazz-tronica heavy on the –tronica, this song is a must. (Tom Butcher)
