Hey! It’s great to see you! I haven’t seen you in ages! You must tell me what you are up to these days! How are things?
Hi Jim! It’s great to see you, too! Things are good with me, thanks.
The last time I saw you, you were living in New York! Where are you living now?
Oh, I live here in London! I have been back in Britain for three months now. I am probably not living far from you!
And you were working in the film industry when I last saw you. Are you still?
Yes, I still am. I am a film director. I have made several small films, and I am currently working on a documentary about penguins in Antarctica. It is a really interesting project.
That’s good to hear. Are you still playing lots of sports?
Not so much now. I hurt my knee, and I had to have an operation. I am still not allowed to run, so it means I can’t take part in most sports. But I am allowed to swim, and I go swimming at least twice a week.
And do you have a family now? I remember that you were dating the last time we saw each other.
We aren’t together any longer. He didn’t want to come to Britain, so I left him in New York. Now I am single. I live on my own.
It really has been such a long time. What have you done in that time?
Oh, it would take me days to tell you! We must go out for dinner sometime and I will tell you all about it! Well, I lived in New York for three years, and then I started to miss London, and I decided to move back.
Have you seen any of our friends lately?
Not really. I met up with Jack – you remember, from university. The one who married a Palestinian girl. He is really well.
What about Stephanie? You were good friends once, you must have seen her. And Alice, too. How is she?
Oh, they are both fine. I saw them both about a week ago. Stephanie got married to a really nice French man. She now has three children, can you believe it? And Alice became a lawyer. She is now living in Berlin in Germany.
I am so glad I met you by chance today. I’d really like to stay in touch. Do you think we could go out for dinner sometime?
Of course, I already suggested it! I want to hear all your news, too! So much must have happened to you. I’ve been talking about myself for ten minutes, and I have hardly asked you a single question!
