There's an old man over there and he's sitting on his own He's just been to war and he's left without a home He doesn't understand why things worked out this way He's just been to war and it's a price you have to pay
He didn't want to go but he was very young And national service came around and gave him a brand new gun They taught him how to kill and take other lives of men He swears if there's another war he'll never fight again
He's only just realised that there were better things to do Than watch other people dying he wished that he'd died too But now he has no arms and legs and no one speaks to him And he can hardly move at all a muscle or a limb
Visions in his head flash back of bodies on the ground Mutilated shot or gassed bodies all round Why did he have to go? Well he isn't really sure If he could talk he'd tell you to keep away from war
And now he screams in his head I don't want to go to war I don't want to go to war I don't even know what I am fighting for
I don't want to go to war I don't want to go to war Just another forgotten hero lying on the ground
