It was the same day I first met Maggie Bell, and while I was traveling from her house to his Alex gave her a call to make sure I was 'kosher'. We met that afternoon so I guess I must have passed the test. "I was making a documentary about Scottish pop music, so typically Alex and I talked about Roy Rogers and the Pioneers, the relationship between rock and roll and denim jeans, and about the first time he heard 'What D'I Say', telling me it renewed his faith in rock and roll which he described as having gone through a bad Bobby Rydell stage. "Rock and roll is going through one of those 'bad Bobby Rydell stages' right now, so there's not a lot of room for 'Vambo Rules', 'The Faith Healer' or 'Next' but whenever I get the chance I'm always going to play them on the radio."
