Sleep on night's silent sleep Feel the chill growling
Fear begins as darkness comes and mummy calls goodnight There's something in the bedroom that doesn't feel quite right Snuggled up in bed so warm safe inside from nighttime's storm The sandman tries to spread the land of dreams
Soft footsteps creak behind the door A coldness crawls across the floor All forcing her to open up her eyes There's shadows dancing on the wall noises come from down the hall Don't toss and turn my little one there's rest for those who sleep
The pictures dark around the room Reveal a hidden mystery No comfort flows behind the artist's hand
The toybox lid is opening A soft mist creeps across the edge Inside a thousand sleeping secrets slowly now awake
Out jumps Jack from out the box Upon the rocking horse and rocks it to and fro Smiling as the creatures of the night Emerge from darkened walls Building blocks and bouncing balls Are thrown from every corner of the room
Clockwork toys without a key begin to whirr and click upon the windowsill And down below the harlequins are dancing round and round the chair The sound of chilling laughter fills the air Puppets with no strings attached pull and kick at teddy without care They're knocking out the stuffing from this bear The dolls house comes to life inside toytown man and wife Are screaming at the children yet again
Then just as madness reached is towering high "Stop!" cried Jack "there's something wrong" And pointing to the bed Reveals the one who should be sleeping still awake
Screams of joy and laughter fill the air while on the floor the toys await As Jack dismounts his trusty seed The one by one towards the bed they climb upon the covers each intent On mischief borne from deep inside "Come my little one come to my breast I will comfort you upon your journey's end Fear not little one I am your love Will you walk with me upon the road to hell" She runs from the bed towards the door but find it locked She is trapped within the shadows on the wall Then covering in corner of the room she hides her eyes From the smiling wooden faces of her fear
