Speed Lyrics: Sakurai Atsushi Music: Imai Hisashi
Sticking my index finger into my temple I'm blasting off My head's always at the limit Biting down on the pills1 Don't hestitate Dive off the skyscrapers
Again tonight, my head's at the limit You can see through to my bones No more peace and quiet I'm off to tonight's partners in crime
All you girls, all you boys Those lines of pain and tears They all stop when your body goes numb Be a butterfly, be a flower2 Something's waiting for you out there Say goodbye to everything you love
—I was the only one who got crazy, you were still a little too straight—3
Drive up the speed Dive off the skyscrapers Drive up the volume I'm off to tonight's partners in crime
All you girls, all you boys Freedom looks good on you This is our last chance Let's blow ourselves up4 Be a butterfly, be a flower You're so beautiful, you're the universe Holding tight to everything you love You're the universe
Again today, waking up In the cold glass case of the moonlit night Again tonight, my head's at the limit You can see through to my bones
Note: I know some people are really bothered by the lyrics to this song for its suicidal references. I don't know why, but I actually have a theory that this song is about being high on speed...I think the jumping off skyscrapers is more an evocation of the state of mind of being high, so maybe you don't have to worry after all. But if the thought of Sakurai having tried speed bothers you, worry away (though I'd wait for the song "Heroin," personally.)
