Canadian accent - Can-16 West Vancouver | Текст песни

Male: I was born and raised in Vancouver. I was born in the hos- pital just up the street there, and I was raised in West Van my whole life. We want the... the Grizzlies to come back to Vancouver. We don’t want to... we don’t want anything...
to settle anything for anything less. We know Houston’s got a decent basketball team, but I don’t know. It ticks me off that the Grizzlies left us. Now we’re stuck with the Canucks, and... riots downtown, and... parties on Fridays, so that’s about all we got now.
Male2: It just doesn’t seem right not having the Grizzlies.
Male: No, it doesn’t. And I’m such a big basketball fan, I played basketball for Cap U, the university over here, and... it’s like my favorite thing to do, favorite thing to watch, so I’m stuck watching the Toronto Raptors, and it’s the most painful, painful thing to watch of all time, so...
Male3: We don’t have a local basketball...
Male2: Which surprises me because Vancouver’s big enough to maintain that, you know, it seems like.
Male3: We’re a hockey city.
Male2: Well, Canada in general...
Male3: No, Vancouver more so.
Male2: Vancouver more so? So what’s the deal with hockey in Van- couver? Or...
Male: Well, no, hockey all over Canada is huge, in Toronto it’s like the Mecca for hockey. Winnipeg just got a new hockey team, the Jets, which used to be the Atlanta, Atlanta Thrashers, yeah. So...
Male2: Used to be what?
Male: Atlanta... Well the Atlanta Thrashers. So the Atlanta Thrash- ers are gone now, they’re going to be the Winnipeg Jets. And uh, it’s going to be a hilarious team to watch because they’re all just goons, and they skate around on ice with punching gloves on, so... it’s pretty... it’s going to be pretty entertaining to watch, I’m going to definitely get tickets for that game for sure. Yeah, it’s fun.
Male2: Ah, you know, that’s fifty percent of the reason to go, in the end.
Male: Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely, and the beer. Yeah, the Canadian beer, it’s probably the best.
Male2: What do you have to recommend that are your favorites? Male: Well I like Labatt Blue and I like Caribou...
Male2: I’ve never had Caribou.
Male: It’s good, it’s strong, yeah. Way stronger. Yeah, there’s also
a lot of beer companies around Vancouver like Bone Island Beer. Yeah, that’s a good one, because they have brewery on the ... Bone Island which is an island just off of... actually you’re going to pass it when you go on your ferry ride. Yeah, and then also Granville Island, they have another brew com- pany over there. House Island Brewing...
Male3: There’re lots of small breweries...
Male: There are good restaurants also down there too. There’s the Old Spaghetti Factory, there that’s good, they have, just yeah, all you can eat, I think all you can eat soup and salad, plus like great entrées like, and cheap entrées, like ten dollars a... ten dollars a pop I think. And also just walking up on Coal Harbor, I mean today’s rainy, but most of the time it’s pretty nice to walk there. A lot of like public art and like pretty in- teresting like pavilions and kind of art sculpted into stone, just like when, where you don’t expect it too, which is the fun part about it. And if it’s nice tomorrow, I mean renting bikes and going around Stanley Park, that’s... a lot of tourists love that, yeah. It’s just on Hornby, Hornby Island, it’s... you... you’re actu- ally going to go close to it, it’s just up the coast of Vancouver Island and you can take a ferry to Denman, and then you can take a ferry to Hornby, and so the first day I went on my bike and just like got completely lost. I ended up on the other side of the island, I had to get these people to come and... I kind of ushered them over and they, they helped me get back to where I was staying. I was staying like at this cow farm in the middle of nowhere and they actually know where it was, so it’s obviously a pretty small island if everybody knows where the cow farm is.
Male2: Everybody knows where everything is.
Male: Exactly, so, and everyone knows everybody. Not like Van- couver where... I go downtown and I don’t expect to see anybody I know really. Yeah, especially just like on Gran- ville Street, like I was down here last night and... I maybe bumped into one or two friends down there, other than that, everyone seemed like strangers.
Well yeah, it’s getting to be huge and people come here after they, after they haven’t been here for a while, and they tell me, like, I can’t believe the city has changed this much, like the sky line’s changed, like all the roads have changed, I don’t even know anymore. Yeah, I don’t even know about this
city anymore, but a lot of people like it and... I actually just investing in real estate up here too, so I’m not planning on going anywhere any time soon, so... The best place is right off the highway, because you can rip up to Whistler, so you go up to Whistler, it takes an hour and a half, and then inNorth Van you can just take the Sea Bus across, so it’s really like the best location. And there’s only one highway in all of Vancouver so you just like hop on that highway, and you go to Whistler, and you can go snowboard for the weekend, or sledding. Yeah, sledding’s a lot of fun up here too, like snow- mobiling? So you... everyone in Whistler, they buy trucks, snowmobiles, yeah, they pack a lunch and they just go like off into the woods for the whole day. Or a couple days and... it’s kind of a cool like tradition I guess, before they had roads and stuff like that, they’d use sleds to get around, and... and yeah, it’s probably, it’s probably a lot of fun out there too.
The Olympics was great though, so much fun out here, yeah, it was something else I’ll say I’ve never seen it like this be- fore, but, yeah, there was like athletes walking around and... and it wasn’t... it wasn’t very cold at all, it was sunny most of the time, and I think people got this impression like it didn’t rain around here, but it rains so much! Like this...we haven’t had like one week, like we’ve had one week of sun this whole time, this whole summer. But the Olympics was great, be- cause there wasn’t any snow, but it was sunny. So people were out, out of their houses, and on the streets, the streets were just packed. It was a lot like, it reminded me of the Stanley Cup Finals, in Vancouver, wasn’t it? But, you know, different results, and... but yeah, we had a good time. I came back form Ottawa that... that week and... just to party here, just to like be a part of it. And it was... it was awesome.
Male2: It’s in your home town, you kind of have to go.Male: Yeah, yeah, I know, yeah. I had to brag a little bit to my bud- dies back in Ottawa that, I got to go see the Olympics.
Male2: Did you go to school in Ottawa?
Male: Yeah, I went to Carlton. That’s a university out there. Yep. Yeah, Ottawa is the capital of Canada, I mean... I know
you seem educated, but you’re from Houston, I don’t know, Americans, like, seems like they don’t know much geography about Canada, so... The Canadian government back then wanted something off the border, because they were just scared that... like the Americans would come and invade us. So that why, yeah, Vancouver wasn’t the capital either, Victo- ria is the capital, like a little bit of leeway, so.
