The things that you could have done The songs that I should have sung But it wasn’t that easy
The times that you could have stayed The love that we would have made No, it wasn’t that easy
These, these are the thoughts That come back to haunt You late at night Why can’t you forgive yourself?
For the road not taken A path forsaken And though your heart is breaking Ain’t it time to move on?
The life that we could have shared The beauty and the despair Or so I believed
And yet, my greatest mistake The road that I chose to take Took me away
No, there’s no holding on To something that’s gone And wasn’t to be Then why can’t I forgive myself?
For the road not taken A path forsaken And though my heart is breaking Ain’t it time to move on?
And now, the tears have been shed There are new roads ahead You can set yourself free Time, time to forgive ourselves
For the road not taken A path forsaken And when your hopes are shaken You got to re-awaken And though our hearts are breaking Ain’t it time to move on?
(Inspired by the poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost)
