Kankri stands beside you, near his desk. The two of you are alone in an auditorium-style classroom, poring over a large tome. Every session has ended for the day – he offered you assistance when you asked, despite the fact that college professors in your school seldom bother with tutoring.

Kankri: Hmmm, alright. I can see where this part might be misconstrued. The author didn’t really phrase it clearly – I mean, I don’t intend any disrespect. This is the author chosen for this portion of the curriculum. I simply wish he could be a bit less opaque in his reasoning.

Kankri: (Idly raises a hand) I mean, so many students get caught here, so evidently, this isn’t quite the correct approach… here, let me attempt to alter the wording for you.

Kankri: (Clears his throat) ‘The fisherman sent a stare; uncomplicated, and still yet unbidden.’

Kankri: (Pauses) Does that make a bit more sense? I realize I mainly just rearranged the wording, but…I find changing the punctuation tends to illuminate the meaning behind –

You interrupt him, finishing his sentence, essentially. You’re exceptional in this class.

Kankri: Oh. Yes, that’s…exactly it. The author is a bit brazen, I find, but he is a mandatory portion of the curriculum, so. Well – you understand.

He seems flustered. You smile softly.

Kankri: (Stutters slightly – it’s barely noticeable) Ah, so, was there anything else you needed assistance with? In regard to the text, or perhaps another class project? I don’t usually offer personal tutoring. It’s apparently frowned upon by University staff! Can you imagine that? This is a learning institution, and should be executed as such.

Kankri: Oh, but I don’t mean to derail the conversation. As I was saying, did you require more assistance? I’m more than content to aid you. I know how inaccessible the student tutors can be, and hiring one is another matter altogether, and –

You interrupt him again, fondly. Inside your bag is a book from another course entirely, but you believe he might be able to assist you with the topics therein.

Kankri: Oh, I see. Hmmm, this isn’t my material. I’m not surprised you brought it to me, though. Although, I must warn you – this is out of my element, so to speak. I don’t typically…well, I’ve heard of this sort of thing, but…only professors specializing in the subject should be offering you any advice in regard to this. I can’t guarantee my prowess.

You reassure him that it’s fine. Any advice he’s able to contribute is appreciated. Kankri sighs, and flips through the text, briefly.

Kankri: Well, the thing is – I’m not entirely sure I’m comfortable discussing this. It’s not within my primary knowledge bracket, and me having this conversation with you could be viewed as…problematic.

You give him a highly specific look. It’s very compelling.

Kankri: (Sighs) Well…alright. I suppose it couldn’t hurt. I’ll inform your other instructor of this in the morning.

Kankri: However, I must ask an honest question. Please be as forthcoming as possible.

Kankri: Did you already know that you needed absolutely no assistance in my class?

Shyly, you glance toward the door. You have no intentions of leaving, however; it’s just an initial response. Kankri notices.

Kankri: It’s alright…I. I was glad to see you. (He clears his throat).

Kankri: Alright. I’m inexperienced in this regard. This is somewhat of a…physical class, isn’t it? I’m afraid I’m not a very physical instructor. Interpreting academic texts in a…dance format…is really not my strength. If you’re able to, please, start us off.

Instantly, you move toward him. You put your hands on his hips, and he gasps, quietly.

Kankri: Wait, what are you doing? You’re…mmm.

Kankri: You’re very close to me, currently.

You let your hands slide lower, to his backside. He presses forward, startled.

Kankri: Oh! That’s…very direct contact…

Kankri: (He sighs again, and pause
