Wallpaper My grandma once told me that you shouldn’t marry someone until these three little things had happened. 1.You’ve told them your most embarrassing moments. 2. It’s become the source of your happiness 3. You have wallpapered a room together. The first two are pretty STRAIGTFORWARD- stuff we’ve all been told before. It’s the final one that really catches my attention. “Before you marry someone, wallpaper a room together.” Wallpaper a room with your partner and it’ll show who this person actually is. She was telling me to make sure that I would have the patience to line up polka-dots with this person for hours ON END. She was telling me to be certain that we could work through little problems or disagreements. That we could stand to work together in a CONFINED space and come out with our SANITY INTACT. That we could smell the thick STENCH of glue for hours and not to lose our tempers. She wanted me to be positive that this was a person I could do hard work with in order to reach a worthwile outcome. She didn’t mean that I literally had to wallpaper a room with a potential spouse, only to think about these things and ask myself if we could do that. 1) Straightforward -1) прямий, безпосередній 2) прямий, відкритий, відвертий 3) простий 2) On end – безупинну 3) Sanity - 1) нормальна психіка 2) здоровий ґлузд; розсудливість 4) Intact - неушкоджений, непошкоджений, цілий; неторканний 5) Confined - 1) обмежений, вузький (to confine – обмежувати, cтавити кордони) 6) Stench - 1) сморід 2) що-небудь смердюче 7) To lose one’s temper – зірватись, не стриматись, втратити над собою контроль, вийти з себе
