I. Allegro
II. Romance
III. Final
One of a series of three early little sonatas that Poulenc later dismissed as \"entertainment\", it was written in 1922 and revised in 1945. The work is very brief, barely reaching the six minute mark. It comprises three movements. The first, Allegro, is a quick dialogue in which the bassoon accompanies its more outstanding colleague. The second, Romance (Andante trés doux) is slow and relies mostly on the lower register of the instruments. The third, Final (Trés animé) comprises two fast sections surrounding a central darker one.
