Она явилась утром,
воскресным ранним утром.
Струился перламутром
поток волос в ветрах.
Ах, как она меня нашла?
Я брёл во мраке мутном.
Страна в развалинах была,
и в душах правил страх.

Она меня просила
назвать врага ей имя.
Я рассказал о жажде
убийства средь людей.
Я умолял дать мне коней,
чтоб на врага на них мне
лететь, на месть затратив
остаток своих дней.

Она сказала:
"Битву, что обращает в Зверя,
легко начать,
но кончить вовек веков нельзя".
Праматерь всех людей меня
призвать сумела к вере.
Боясь пути во мгле,
её молил остаться я.

"О, Леди, помогите мне!
Позвольте рядом быть во тьме".
Она сказала: "Верь в меня",
и жизнь в душе зажгла.
"В количестве нет силы.
Не сомневайся, милый.
Поверь, я буду рядом,
коль буду я нужна".

Промолвив эти мне слова,
она ушла, а я едва
живой глядел, как пропадал
тот чёрный силуэт.
Мой труд не легче после стал,
но я был не один и знал,
что мужество всегда найду,
к себе её позвав.
И если к вам вдруг буйный ветр
её однажды принесёт,
испейте храбрости тот мёд,
мой передав привет.
