Charted at #1 in October 1904. This song quickly became a favorite with all barbershop quartets. The lyrics were inspired by a girl who worked at the music counter of a department store. The Haydn Quartet includes John H. Bieling and Harry Macdonough.
The Quaker City Four were the first to make the song a hit. Also a #1 hit for the Peerless Quartet, and #2 for Albert Campbell and James F. Harrison, both also in 1904. Written by Richard H. Gerard and Henry W. Armstrong.
