I was not aware of them at all. I only have sons and small sons so I had no teenage girls around me to explain to me what these books were about. But my husband and I did go to the bookstore that day to get them and we were kind of shocked at the covers alone of teen books these days. Cuz it does not look like the teen section of my youth. It really doesn't. I was like "Whoa!" I mean, I think the most scandalous was, like, V.C. Andrews, like, you know, flowers in the attic or whatever it was. That was it, you know. And these are totally different. I guess it's a sign of the times, it's evolution and things that were forbidden in my youth are now like the norm.
