The day you get married is supposed to be the most important day of your life. So, why not celebrate in style? Do any of these ideas take your fancy? How about a Star Wars themed wedding. When Bramwell Brightey and Tamsyn Lofts got married, they dressed up as Han Solo and Princess Leia from the original trilogy. The guests also turned up as characters from the sci-fi films, and a special cake was made to look like Yoda. And instead of the traditional first dance, the couple (who have seen the films more than 500 times) had a light sabre fight at the reception. “Everyone looked amazing! It was the greatest day of my life,” Bramwell said. What about an underwater wedding? That’s exactly what one company is offering in Mallorca. For just €400, you can take the plunge at The Palma Aquarium. The lucky couple wear scuba gear with oxygen tanks, and mics attached that broadcast their “I dos” over a radio transmitter to guests outside the tank. Can’t find anybody willing to record the big day? Don't worry! There are plenty of sharks swimming around the tank who wouldn't mind taking a few "snaps". Or how about something a bit more hi-tech? Tomohiro Shibata and Satoko Inoue tied the knot in the world’s first robot wedding last year at their Tokyo ceremony. The bride and groom, who both work in the robot industry, were married by a robot with flashing eyes. “It was a lot of fun,” said bride Satoko. “I think the Japanese have a strong sense that robots are our friends.” Now what about a wedding on a plane? One English couple tied the knot 700 metres in the air while strapped to the wings of a biplane. Or how about a bungee jump wedding? Jeroen and Sandra Kippers of Brussels (Belgium) were lifted onto a platform 120 metres in the air for their wedding ceremony. They were joined by the priest and 20 guests. Another platform held the musicians. After the vows, they made if official by bungee-jumping over the side. Or how about a superhero, zombie or World War II-themed wedding? Or what about a medieval-themed ceremony, a virtual reality wedding or one in a McDonald’s restaurant conducted by Ronald McDonald himself. Still not sure? How about a wedding based on a popular book series such as Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter or Twilight. In fact, Twilight-themed weddings are all the rage these days. The possibilities are limitless!
