History:
Machair is a Gaelic word meaning a "plain". The title of this track refers to the machair on Iona. The extensive reworking for this album aims to capture something of the contrast between the atmosphere of the barren, empty, open landscape of the machair and an incident recorded in the life of Columba which occurred on the nearby large mound known as Cnoc nan Aingeal, or Hill of the Angels. Here, legend has it, Columba was once surrounded by Angels descended from Heaven.
