Interview: (Drummer)
All drummers have the same look don’t they? They have this kind of pre-occupied look…why?
*Well, you’ve such a lot to do you don’t have time to smile. (laughing)

Well, now then, you are called what?
*JJ skiffle-whiz (not sure but that is what it sounds like)

And you come from?
*Epsom (?) (Not sure about this but Jimmie Page is from Heston)

What are your two name’s?
*James Page, David (Inaudible to me)

Where did you learn to play the drums?
*From my father; he taught me

Did He?..
*Yes, And one of the other guitarist, his father was in the same band as him.

As your father?...*yes
These things go back generation’s

Interview: (Jimmie Page)
And you’re just learning to play the guitar?
*Yes, from a teacher

Do you play anything else except the skiffle?
*Yes, ( I can’t understand what he said)

What are you going to do when you leave school, do they have skiffle?
*No. To do, uh, well, biological research.

Do you? I knew that already as a matter of fact. What do you mean by biological research?
*Well, cancer if it isn’t discovered by then.

You mean be a doctor?
*No, no, I don’t have enough brains for that I don’t think.

Not enough brains? Sure you have. Well, alright; understood as they say.
Not at all, I think you’ve got quite enough brains to be a doctor. What do you want to do? Research into germs?
*Yes

Interview (Drummer)
Now then, you want to biological research as well, but not into germs?
*No.

What do you want to do biological research?
*No, Things a bit bigger than that. Anything but germs and that

Why? To do what?
*Well, just to discover new things.

And to make what?
*Well, not to make new things but to discover things and give out that information

Well, alright we have two biologist’s, both who want to do research. Now we move over

Interview: (Bass player)
You don’t want to go into biological research do you I know because you want to you’re ????
*Yes, I hope they let me in.

That’s right, tell me a little more about this skiffle group. It meets how often?
*Well, we usually have a rehearsal about once a week.

Where?
*At Jim Page’s house. It’s central for all of us and I suppose his mother has to like skiffle

That’s right; she’s long suffering. You made, you made, you made this instrument I understand. Like Anthony, (???) he makes his own instruments too. Did it take long to make?
*About five months on and off

Did it come out alright? I mean when you finished making it, did it not play in tune?
*Well, No, it came out as I’d hoped.

It did? *(yes)

Are you going to make another one?
*Yes, I hope. Well, I’m going to make a bigger one with a curved front. Bigger, better with a better tone; the lot.

Interview (guitarist0
You are going to make something as wel; so I am told?
*Yes, (???) we’re building it.

Now then, I also happen to know that you are going to be a research chemist too. No, not a chemist, (*No, a physicist) A research physicist

Are you?
*Yes, in electrical research

What is it about Epsom skiffler’s that make them want to do research work is it?
*Scientific minded I expect.

I expect it is. What sort of research is it that you want to do?
*Electrical Research

Why electrical?
*Well, electricity they tell me is the life blood of the country now

Yes, Well it is physics anyway isn’t it? *Yes

Okay, now you are going to go into what?
*The cotton song

The cotton song…well, cotton away

Singing…
When I was a little baby, my mammy used to rock me in them ole cotton fields back home
It was down in Louisiana, not a mile from Texarkana.
