We said goodbye
and it was the hardest thing I've ever done
We boarded two separate planes,
mine to Denmark and yours to London

I was gonna take a year off
before going to university
You were going straight to school
and I worried that you would forget about me

There were tears streaming from your eyes
And that was the very first time
I'd ever seen you cry

I think my body rejected
the idea of losing you
On my trip, I got so sick
did nothing but cry and shake and puke

Things were better when we landed,
though I'd broken out and still felt sad
I got to see my sisters again,
the sun was out, things didn't seem so bad

It's been around two weeks now
and everything is good
You bought your ticket to see me
we'll be together in September like we should

I get connection at work
so we still talk almost every day
I miss you, but nothing has changed
and we'll never run out of things to say

Until your arms can wrap around me,
I'll let the wind lull me to sleep
I'll look at all the things you gave me
until I can see you in a few weeks

Things will get harder down the road,
sometimes we'll probably lose our way
even so, I will love you for all of my days
and knowing that, I'll be okay
