Now and then
I think of when
His teeth were so small and white
He laughed when he heard
The sounds in the distant night
Later on
His smile was gone
His lips spoke of silent things
The least he could do
Was more than his life could bring
Oh what a shame
What a terrible shame
To be lost and found
Below the ground
Beneath every child that plays
His life was so short
It's hard to believe
today
Late this night she waits alone
She tries to forget the truth
The pain is intense
Her heart is so sore and bruised
Walking alone she's thinking
How many days have passed
Since her life's been broken
Since her faith has fallen
Wishing that the sadness had not
come for it's claim so soon
One life is so short
So many things left to say
Crying softly for the one who cannot return
Through the rain she sees a face
Laughing in happy play
The face of a child
A child on a sunny day
