i’m back in the spot where i hang a lot it was eleven o’clock on a hollywood block i went out to explore after i thought i was staying indoors
she was new in town, being shown around it was a first class crowd that her cousin had found different than where she’s from in ciudad obregón
she was looking to impress in a summer dress i saw her walk across the room with a certain finesse that’s so hard to describe like a bird in flight
later that night when the press was tight i turned around and i was pleasantly surprised she was next to me and we found the beat
one night in july a year ago i danced with a girl from mexico and it was (oh) it was wonderful she had an interesting name that I couldn’t spell and eyes so bright that they overwhelmed but then (oh) she had to go (she had to go) she left for home
we danced to a song with a beat like this we bobbed to each side and added a twist we couldn’t get enough we were diamonds in the rough
i asked for her number but she had no phone she was only here to visit from Mexico so I memorized her name and her eyes i’d find her, i’d try ’cause i’ll never forget that-
