A common bird in open areas with bushes and cultivated fields throughout most
of Europe. The bird’s most typical song is when it counts to seven: ‘ti-ti-ti-ti-ti-ti-
tyyyy’. It is not unusual for individual birds to drop the ‘tyyyy’ or to count only
to four or five, but Messiaen's yellowhammer actually counts to seven!
