I was once beside these shores, Of raging winds and snow-clad mounds afar. I went through many trials in spite of intense cold. When I got starved, I ate and drank the gifts of land; When I got tired, I slept and then continued my way; Straight ahead, alone with my own weird contend.
I was yearning for home, where my Forefathers teach me to esteem the will of Gods, On the Land that grants the right to be free and purify. I belong here, on this northern map of life, Where I join the water, for the first time under open winter sky O, how long ago it was, but I don't forget
Fire and wind, Allmighty one-eyed God From the skies above Take my soul and sword With heart and raise Up high under favour Of the seas and oceans Like a single whole To the place undreamed-of all beneath.
Fire and wind, Allmighty one-eyed God From the skies above Take my soul and sword With heart and raise Up high under favour Of the seas and oceans, Iced lakes among deep forest To the land of all braves.
