Well, it was fascinating because, erm, in the 80’s it occurred at the time when the type of music we played, wasn’t played on the national radio. Erm… alternative or independent music, it wasn’t played, it wasn’t accepted. Now, of course, it is, if you are independent or alternative you’re automatically played on the radio. It’s different here, because here they are more… responsive and hipper than anywhere else in the country. But really in England they would never play the Smiths ever. I mean they, they would never play the Smiths now, they would never play me now in England. The last time I heard myself on the radio was when I was here. So, erm, for the Smiths it was very interesting because we just seem to make it on our own terms, we had no support. And we weren’t advertised and we didn’t have videos and so forth. So it was very very rare, because we just made it by ourselves. We played and played and played, and we instantly had an audience and it was very strong. And the industry in England absolutely hated the Smiths and so, therefore, everything that we achieved meant so much more. And I think that’s the best way to do it, really... it’s terrible when you’re hyped and, you know, you get something that you don’t deserve. And you receive the television spot that you shouldn’t really, erm… have received. Oh, it’s terrible in England, the charts in England everybody enters at No. 1, people who you never heard of, people who have no audience. You can be Number One and you can be playing in a 300-seater club that you can’t even fill. It’s extraordinary in England now, it’s all changed. It’s all hype. And the record companies are giving records away, which register as a chart sales. So it’s… I think it’s very frustrating for the people who automatically make it bigger than they should be. And then a few months later they’re history. I think it’s best to do in a traditional way, and get your audience right behind you. And you also enjoy that build yourself, if you're instantly dropped into it with your first record, it must be very frustrating.
