VA 1967 Music from the Himalayas – Recordings by Deben Bhattacharya
Dimacha Kachori, one of the most popular series of dances of the Dimacha Kachari tribe from Nagaland, it performed on religious and social occasions. This particular dance is based on the participants` miming the movement of hauling logs of wood for building the house of their king. Twenty to thirty boys and girlt take part in this dance. It is accompanied by a mauri dizau (a shawm-like reed instrument) and kharan dizau (cylindrical drum). Music played by two members of the Kachari tribe from Dimapur, Nagaland.
