Native is a renown jazz group of Tomoyoshi Nakamura (sax/flute), Koutaro Hiramatsu (piano), Kenichi Ohkubo (bass) and Yuichi Fukaya (drums) from Nagoya, Japan originally formed in 1999. They have started their career on the streets, and through their 10+ years of activities, they have played numerous shows in and outside of Japan including performances at 2013 Nanjing international Jazz & World music festival. “Liberation” is their very 10th album, and is the first work they have put out with their new pianist. So the overall impression differs largely comparing to their more danceable last album “Going with the Flow”. You can say there are more depth and richness in it’s expression and more of a listening album where you can enjoy the gorgeous interplays and sound treatments.
