When I look back to when I was a little kid running through the playground laughing being stupid Nothing much has changed even though we’ve now grown up Swinging from monkey bars has turned into toking up A child's face remains resonating till we’re old Buried underground, escaping to another world Bright, brittle shrills echo through our souls We hold onto memories that we’ve encased in gold It’s the stand out moments of living out ones life That travels through the ages cutting like kitchen knife A scar into your brain so you don’t forget it The path that we’ve taken is the one you’ve gotta live with It’s the one you’ve gotta live with!
Run to the mic I run to the mic I run to the mic I run Woa ohh Woa ohh ohh ohh
Now here we are complaining and complaining About the way that things are but not doing anything to change it Singing a song? No! It’s not gonna help The message may be spread ‘n’ heard but ultimately shelved
The wrong ears are listening to what you’re tryna say We’re not the type of people who wanna rule the day No! So where do we start?? You think by saying rise up? We need to get to power and there’s only one place to do that Get into politics to gain outside support Not from just the punks but from the rest of the fucking world Not by just screaming or singing reggae songs We need smart, intelligent people who want to get things done Not just for the money, no greedy ones can help Is there anyone out there who really gives a shit?
Run to the mic I run to the mic I run to the mic I run Woa ohh Woa ohh ohh ohh
A revolution can't work our generation’s disconnected Can’t agree on anything we’re all so apathetic Self motivated we’re so fucking distant to band together now Can’t work like in the 60’s Everyone is guilty Everyone is just like this Everyone is guilty We’re never gonna rise up If you don’t agree with me then that’s ok In less than an hour you’ll have forgotten what I had say.. Maybe I’m a pessimist when it comes to change But you and me both know that we’ll stay the same
