i stumbled through the dunes and barren wasteland the sun had burned my skin and blistered both my hands six years i spent chasing a dry oasis hoping to erase familiar faces i heard stories of forgiveness in the oregon rain the water would cleanse my soul and melt away my pain but just as i prepared to leave the scorching heat i found a wild flower bending at my feet
but amidst the peace my heart had finally found tangled roots would keep her in the ground i longed to take the flower north with me but i left her there, for beauty craved the heat
and i'd swim across a sea of desert sand if i could rest my head inside your arms again
she showed me beauty where it never used to be she tore my lies apart and gently bore my honesty
