I feel "Huckleberry friend" relates to Mark Twain's rascal, wandering juvenile hero "Huckleberry Finn." As used in film "Breakfast At Tiffany," it's song by the hillbilly heroine Holly Golightly who has become successful as a NYC party girl but yearns for the innocence she left behind in the south. When the song was filmed at a movie preview, a studio executive wanted to cut it out because it s-l-o-w-e-d down the movie. A publisher criticized the song because he couldn't figure what a "Huckleberry" meant.
