In the beginning
when God made heaven and earth,
the earth was without form and void,
with darkness over the face of the abyss;
and a mighty wind that swept over the surface of the waters.

And God said, \"Let there be light,\" and there was light;
And God saw that the light was good;
and He separated light from darkness.

He called the light day, and the darkness night.
[So evening came and morning came, the first day.]

So God said:
\"Let there be a vault between the waters,
to separate water from water.\"

[So God made the vault,
and separated the water under the dome
from the waters which above it,]
and so it was;
and God called the vault Heaven.
