I ran from the city I ran from the doubt I stumbled and I fell But still, I ran
I ran through the forest As the rain poured down And stole at my skin But still, I ran
I came to a shore And ran through the sand And dove into the water It stung my eyes
I swam past the dolphins And fishes and sharks I came up for air And then, sought the sky
I climbed on the clouds With shells in my hair And I reached out and grasped At the feet of the dove
She flew higher and higher 'til I stepped onto a star And from there, I could see Everything I had once desired
I had no place to be I had no one I was alone and I couldn't find What I craved
Tears fell from my eyes Like torrents of rain But I could never drown My yearning or sorrow
I fell to the earth Upon hot desert sands And I cried 'til a salt river Ran through that land
But I chanced upon an oasis And stood silently I began to hear I began to see
यस्य देवे पर भक्तिर्यथा देवे तथा गुरौ तस्यैते कथिता ह्यर्थाः प्रकाशन्ते महात्मनः 1
I followed (???)2 footprints Out of the desert And found that I had Never been alone
In her smile, I saw you When he played, I knew you're3 there In silence, I heard my heart beating your name
Inside of me, that's where you were Always with me As I wandered and cried But I could never hear until you found me
1. from Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad 6.23 2. this is the only word I'm unsure of -- it could be \"noticed\", though it sounds more like it's someone's name (ie, \"Nota's\") 3. \"you were\" (usually you're = you are, so I wanted to note this)
