Because this song is about a woman from Málaga ,on the southern coast of Andalusia in Spain, many people think it is a Spanish song. In reality it is a Mexican huapango, one of the loveliest ever written. The composers are Elpidio Ramírez and Pedro Galindo. Mariachi Vargas' recording of it on their Aniversario 100 album is marvelous and the lead tenor (unfortunately he is not named) sings beautifully throughout and his falsetto breaks are spectacular.
