vividly it comes to me
that train ride in late june--
cutting through, so ruggedly,
the silent hills in bloom.
mountains cut that canopy, that canopy of blue;
i finally let my heart breathe and think a bit of you.
blazing sky in all its glory--
the stars fill it with light.
the star you wished on fell to earth
and set my heart on fire(3).
face pressed against the window glass
i watched the terrain change;
vibrant shades they came and passed,
that river writhed in pain.
such beauty i have never seen but it’s been here all this time;
instead of seeing shades of gray, i see the bright sun shining.
blazing sky in all its glory--
the stars fill it with light.
the star you wished on fell to earth
and set my heart on fire(3).
