Measuring sound intensity; standing waves; the decibel.
The average human ear has a maximum dynamic range of about 130 db between the threshold of hearing and the threshold of feeling. Since the range of ordinary phono-graphs is limited, we haven't attempted to demonstrate an intensity range of more than about 40 db.
