Sclist of Leeds returns with another percussive roller on SFS0012, only this time the tempo slowed and the mood darkened. With a hypnotic shuffle, “Throne Guard” lurks into position, whipping its bassline back and forth beneath menacing sweeps of noise and skittering war calls. Remix duty is handled by Self Evident of Vancouver. The producer takes those same menacing sweeps and skittering calls, repurposes them as beaming stabs and downbeat blips, and cranks up the pace of the crusty hi hats. As a release, the combination of tracks offers a focused juxtaposition of caliginous stepper sounds across a brusque sound palette.
