The fire is winding down to embers The night is finally ending We send black lanterns into the sky We're wending through the friendly night And as we hold hands we wave this town goodbye
All their ghosts are slowly leaving; That one who never believed in you; The ones who never cared.
"We waltz and dance through the ashy streets All the shops black and a wave of golden leaves Blows through the midnight quiet. All the stuff that never meant anything to us, never cared for us Is dwindling now. We shout at the top of our voices And set black lanterns into the sky, and watch as the town dies."
We drive our cars off the end of the pier And finally we sleep, with no sadness or fear.
