It’s me you might see in the crowd Of people hurling down the street It’s me, I don’t stand out
I’m not an artist, I’m not rich No angel’s kissed me on the cheeks My feet are solid on the ground
I wake up Each morning to get my simple things done And I just try To earn for a living more than a dime And someone waits me home I’ve got a place to go And with my blessed friends I can share it all I mean A sorrow, a joy an’ a drink
I’ve got an undistinguished name It’s hard to tell how old I am I’ve never been a cover man
I’m not a sinner, I’m not saint Coz red hot blood runs in my veins It’s the same color as other men’s
I wake up Each morning to get my simple things done And I just try To earn for a living more than a dime And someone waits me home I’ve got a place to go And with my blessed friends I can share it all I mean A sorrow, a joy an’ a drink
And I just try to earn a dime I’ve got a job to do it right I’m not a boss man but satisfied
And someone waits me to come back home When I come back the lights are on Making me feel I’m not alone
And I can call my friends at night To tell I’m in trouble or don’t feel fine For those few friends I could even die
I build no castles on the sand I’ll never be a better man I’m happy to do my simple things again
