Two sweethearts courted happily for quite a while, 'Midst simple life of country folk, When the lad told girlie he must go away. Her little heart with grief 'most broke. Well, she said, "You know I love you, honey; I love you, honey, best of all. So don't go away." Just as he went to go, it grieved the girlie so These words he heard her say:
"Some of these days, Oh, you'll miss me honey Some of these days, You're gonna feel so lonely You're gonna miss my huggin', You're gonna miss my kissin'. You're gonna miss me honey when I'm far away. I feel so lonely, just for you only. You know honey, I've let you have your way! And when you leave me, I know t'will grieve me You'll miss your little (SCATTING?), baby, some of these days!"
The little girlie, feeling blue said "I'll go too, And show him two can play this game." When her honey heard this melancholy news, why he quickly came back home again. But when he reached her house He found his girl had gone. So down he rushes to the train While it was pulling out, He heard his girlie shout This loving, sweet refrain:
"Some of these days, You'll miss me honey! Some of these days, You'll feel so lonely! You're gonna feel so lonely You're gonna miss my huggin', You're gonna miss my kissin'. You're gonna miss me honey when I'm far away. I feel so lonely, just for you only. You know honey, I've let you have your way! And when you leave me, I know t'will grieve me Gonna miss your little (SCATTING?), baby, some of these days!"
(The word "scatting" above is likely to be incorrect - this part of the recording (to a brown wax Eddison cylinder) was difficult to transcribe due to poor sound quality.)
