I hear the evening shadows calling Wood smoke, drifting veils the distant valleys Summer evening's joy is far from me Why am I not happy, sorrow shakes me
But the dark woods stillness O would welcome Red clouds through which the day is falling Sleepy breezes from the green dark forest, Shadows on the water, meadows flowers...
Happiness is here in my own keeping But here before me lies the way of shadows
Maybe tomorrow I will smile through the fear And greet the day with new found hope Maybe tomorrow I will laugh again And forget about this old dead man But that is tomorrow and this is today And the darkness still prevails
