Stereo Virgins are a four piece alternative rock band from Wirral.
They are often compared to American grunge bands of the 90s making
them an interesting addition to the local music scene. When asked
about the origin of their sound they cite Smashing Pumpkins,
Pavement, Hole, Sonic Youth, Queens of the Stone Age and Nirvana
amongst their influences.
The band completed their formation in 2007 and immediately began
writing and rehearsing. The line up consists of sisters Rachel
(guitar/vocals) and Beck Alveston (bass/backing vocals) with Stu
Sinclair (guitar/vocals) and Lyam Kirkham (drums and percussion).
Stereo Virgins have progressed from playing privately for family and
friends to gigging around Liverpool at a number of venues which
include The Cabin Club, The Magnet, [old] Korova, Mojo and the O2
Academy 2. The 21st of July 2010 saw a landmark in SV history with
the band playing their first headlining show at Mojo with a very
positive outcome.
The band are currently hoping to record some of the live favourites
such as ’Marmalade’ and ’Easy Argument’ in the near future and are
looking forward to their upcoming gigs. They are also looking to book
more gigs in October and beyond.
