With a career that began in 1955, the Bobbettes became a household name with their hit, Mr. Lee. After several additional singles on multiple record labels, without much further success, the group found themselves here on Diamond records.

The Bobbettes got their start on the Diamond label even earlier than this single release might suggest, singing background vocals for Johnny Thunder's tremendous hit, Loop De Loop. Under the direction of Teddy Vann, who had been working with them since 1960, the group released ten sides over a period of six singles for Diamond Records over a 2 and a half year long period. This was their debut single for the label.
