War Widow
A blur of faces and names replace
memories once set in stone
it seems complacency’s had its way
with every good man that i’ve ever known
I’m holding fear by its very ears,
but i will never give into self-absorption
so let me make this clear
Carelessness came so carefully
as it took me from integrity
and shrouded you in indecency
so here’s to ‘making this count’
and here’s to ‘keeping it real’
heres to all the bullshit we’ve concealed
as we forfeit doctrines and ideals
this is no kind of life
Listen to yourselves,
to every word that leaves your mouth
and consider its consequence
don’t speak if you’re in doubt
Break the mirror and squeeze the glass into your fragile hands
your fists fill with blood.
consider there’s more to this than you
too far from the dirt you can’t fathom
that these steps have always been walked for you
(i stood idle, in co-war-dice
and i gave myself to disease, i tore myself from everything
if not for yourself than at least for your friends
be the one to show them all, where pretentiousness ends)
i stood idle in cowardice
and i gave myself to disease, i tore myself from everything
retaliate, retaliate, i’m screaming at your clueless face
rid me of my memory
help me to feel anything.

This song is about selfishness and social justice, how
people that care only for themselves can suck all the
good from your life and leave a shade of grey over
everything. The bridge and culmination of the song
depicts the disappointment in seeing a person very close
to you change for the worse and the desperation of
trying to make them see the error of their ways. We’d
like to thank Jenna of Tonight Alive fame for her
contribution to this song, making for an extraordinary
ending.
