You were afraid to face your face. You didn’t know what was happening, neither did the doctors. Isn’t that great? Nobody knew, what was happening to you. You’re not going out. That’s what you said. You thought it was religion to give yourself away to people who admired you. What would Jesus do? What would he do with you? You stayed at home where you were lonely. You called the radio DJ everyday and he always lied to you. I’m going to play your song, River Deep, Mountain High. You called me at work, to tell me your dreams. You wrote them down but couldn’t write that fast. It all came too fast and it wouldn’t last. You had to tell it now. I don’t have time, I can’t listen to every scene of your convoluted dreams. Even if it’s all you’ve got left; if it’s your very last gift. The last one you want to give.

There were arks going out of the harbor glowing like jellyfish and the sky was green. You were on the shore, waving and crying and somebody’s pets were there and somebody’s parents. And the door was open and you couldn’t fit through it. And your mother and father were there, your father the policeman. And he was angry cause you took your pants off. You were looking for drugs under the table in San Diego.

And you were at a sex club on a golden swing, urinating on the crowd, on the feathery boys. The room was turning into a set of bleachers and everyone from childhood were jeering at you. You couldn’t be heard above the bacchanalia. Above the shaming rituals of the ugly herd. And you were alone while the children were laughing.They were digging out the fields for a makeshift grave.

And you heard music and saw your music teacher blowing her recorder and playing her bells. And you were following, following the music. It came from underwater and the underground. There was a convict, he was covered in tattoos. He was covered in purple snakes, angry like your father. And he wanted to kiss you and he wanted to kill you. He didn’t like the music so he tried to drown you. And while he was holding you down, he became a child. And he was only tickling you and you woke up laughing. Screaming laughing, screaming laughing. You woke up screaming laughing. Screaming.
