The Bansha Peelers went one night
On duty and pathrollinТ O,
When they met a goat upon the road,
And took him for been a sthroller O.
With bayТnet fixed they sallied forth,
And caught him by the wizzen O,
AnТ then he swore a mighty oath,

Oh, mercy, sir! the goat replied,
Come let me tell me story O!
I am no Rogue, no Ribbonman,
No Croppy, Whig, or Tory O;
Im guilty not of any crime
Of petty or high thraison O,
Me tribe is wanted at this time,
For this is ranting season O.

It is in vain for to complain
Or give me your tongue such bridle O,
YouТre absent from your dwellinТ place,
Disorderly and idle O.
Your hoary locks will not prevail,
Your sublime oration O,
YouТll be thransported by Peels Act,
Upon my information O.

No penal law did I transgress
By deeds or combination O.
I have no certain place of rest,
No home or habitation O.
But Bansha is my dwelling-place,
Where I was bred and born O,
Descended from an oldest race,
ThatТs all the trade Ive learned O.

I will chastise your insolince
And violent behaviour O;
Well bound to Cashel you will be sent,
Where you will gain no favour O.
The magistrates will all consent
To sign your condemnation O;
From there to Cork you will be sent
For speedy transportation O.

This parish and this neighbourhood
Are peaceable and thranquil O;

I dont regard your oath a pin,

Me jury will be gentlemin

The consequince be what it will,
A peelers power Ill let you know,
It ll handcuff you, in all events,
And march you off to Bridewell O.
And sure, you rogue, you cant deny
Before the judge or jury O,
Intimidation with your horns,
And threatening me with fury O.

I make no doubt but you are drunk,
Wit whiskey, rum, or brandy O,
Or you wouldnt have such gallant spunk
To be so bould or manly O.
You readily would let me pass
If I had money handy O,
To thrate you to a poitin glass
