(spoken) it's very interesting playing in a church for me. i used to come down right here and kneel. and my father would -- he's a minister, my dad. so i grew up in these things all the time. and i always wanted to play like my songs instead of like.. (sings) oh jesus, my saviour, my god... (spoken) because we ah, all know that jesus is at a nirvana concert right now. the thing about it is, i would come here and kneel down. my dad would put this stale little wafer on my mouth for communtion and he'd go, "tori ellen, this is gonna give you great comfort." and i'd say, "i don't know dad. i'd kinda like to be with jim morrison right now, that would give me alot of comfort." and he said, "in the study". uhh, my dad and i had alot of arguments about things. like um, he wanted me to uhh be a virgin until i got married. well i'm still not married, folks. the thing about it is...you know girls how it gets you start growing things. and hey, everything little bit counts, guys. you know you're going "wow this is really cool" a little bit here a little bit there. and you know you're 10 years old and you've got Robert Plant on the stereo going: (sings) ah-haaa, ah-haaa, ah-haaa.... (spoken) and you know they're downstairs going (sings) jesus, my saviour, my god... (spoken) and you're back in your room, and you know listening.. (sings) ah-haaa, ah-haaa, ah-haaa.... (spoken) and then your hands you know girls how it is sometimes your hands just kinda ... well y'know! (crowd laughs) (spoken) so anyway, i didnt' know what it was called or what i was doing or if anyone else knew about this thing. so i asked this girl, at church, what this was. she told my dad! my dad said, "tori ellen, now..." he'd say "now i'm so ashamed." and i'd say: (sings) ah-haaa, ah-haaa.... (spoken) this is my prayer (begins playing Icicle)
