INTERVIEWER: Maria, if you were talking to people in another
industry about quality, what would you advise them is the most important thing?
MARIA: I'd say every company has to find its own ways because it really depends on the company and the work they do. For example, our main concern is creativity, design. The workers here are not 100 per cent production-focused.
INTERVIEWER: I see.
MARIA: In a production-oriented business you want speed and
efficiency. I can't ask my staff to be the fastest people. They look, they think. They need to think about how beautiful the result will be, and that takes time.
INTERVIEWER: Yeah.
MARIA: And it's the same for quality. Every business has to set its own rules. So if you make simple products, they have to be produced in large quantities, at low cost. So you have maximum efficiency. We can't work like that.
INTERVIEWER: Yes, I see.
MARIA: The work is very labour intensive.
INTERVIEWER: So it's quite traditional?
MARIA: Yes, everything is made by hand. It's very traditional. And it's slow.
INTERVIEWER: Right.
MARIA: It's really exactly like a hundred years ago, except we're using modern materials.
INTERVIEWER: So, one last question. What are the rewards, what are the positive outcomes of working with Montex?
MARIA: Well, seeing the results, seeing our beautiful work at the top Paris fashion shows. It really is very beautiful. And also, we work for such famous names, we do an excellent job. These are important rewards. We can be proud of what we do.
