Eternally (The Song From Limelight) (Chaplin-Parsons) by Vic Damone, orchestra conducted by Richard Hayman (CD audio source).
Better-known as "Terry's Theme" and first popularized in the (also-posted) instrumental version by Frank Chacksfield, this Damone release was the lyrical treatment of a melody composed by Charlie Chaplin for the score of his excellent 1952 comedy-drama "Limelight." Vic's “Ebb Tide” and "April In Portugal" are also included in this collection.
Eternally is a song with music by Charles Chaplin, and words by the English lyricists Geoff Parsons and John Turner. The music was initially composed for Charles Chaplin's film Limelight (1952) titled "Terry's Theme"; the film won an Oscar for "Best Original Dramatic Score" at the 45th Academy Awards in 1973.
"Eternally" was recorded by Jimmy Young (UK Number 8, 1953), Li Xianglan (in Chinese and Japanese), Petula Clark (These Are My Songs, 1967), Michel Legrand, Sarah Vaughan, Roger Whittaker, Engelbert Humperdinck (1973 and 2007), Victor Wood, Amália Rodrigues, among many others.
I'll be loving you eternally (eternally) With a love that's true, eternally (eternally) From the start, within my heart It seems I've always known The sun would shine (shine) When you were mine (mine) And mine alone (mine alone).
I'll be loving you eternally (eternally) There'll be no one new, my dear, for me (eternally) Though the sky should fall Remember I shall always be Forever true (true) And loving you (you) Eternally...
